Bolivia offers unlimited opportunity for river exploration at the end of the rainy season in May to September. Most Bolivian whitewater rivers have never been run, and vary from extreme class V runs in the cloud forest region of the Yungas, to remote floats on pristine tributaries of the Amazon. Wildlife abounds on these streams, with the Río Tuichi in Parque Nacional Alto Madidi providing a home to 10% of all the known bird species in the world. |

Countless trails traverse the Cordillera Real, the backbone of the Bolivian Andes. In the dry season we take to the hills over timeless paths paved by ancestors of the Aymará and Quechua who still inhabit these ethereal lands. The Takesi trek takes us over a low pass in the Cordillera Real where expertly engineered pre-Inca paving leads travelers into the humid Yungas. Our rugged Yungas Cruz trek passes north of Nevado Illimani, a stunning peak overlooking La Paz, home to the finest native handicrafts in Latin America. |
