Smaller Wildlife

The Flying V Ranch is nestled at the bottom of Ventana Canyon. We have worked hard to preserve the natural habitat from the encroaching development of urban sprawl. This has resulted in a pocket of natural beauty where wildlife still exists in its intended environment. For many, stepping onto our property is like stepping back into time. A time where nature was untouched and pure.
We must caution our visitors about coming into contact with our neighboring wildlife. Although they find refuge on our property, they are still "Wildlife" and must be treated with respect and caution.
The Animals listed below are the smaller creatures of the desert and mountain country. They have adapted themselves to thrive in the hostile desert environment and are a tribute to nature's awesome will to survive and live. We at the Flying V Ranch are blessed to be a witness to their beauty and importance to the local ecosystem.

Below is a list of just some of the
smaller wildlife that frequent the area near
the Flying V Ranch and Ventana Canyon.

Canyon Chipmunk
Harris' Ground Squirrel
Kangaroo Rat
Rock Squirrel
Desert Tortoise
Gila Monster
Skunks (Yes, we have to take the bad
with the good!!) Hognose, Hooded, Striped,
Spotted (the latter are extremely shy, tiny and
feret like and seldom "spew")
