Our Message To The Public

We take great pride in the fact that for the 50+ years we have owned the property, we have lived in harmony with it, rather than destroy it. The generations that preceded us (parents and grandparents) maintained it but did not attempt to "improve" it. How does one "improve" on Mother Nature? The family have always been conservators of the environment, since long before it was politically correct to do so. Now, our backs are to the wall: between developers and local government, we are subjected, on a regular basis, to confiscatory tactics, ever-rising taxes, and a total disregard for who we are and what we are trying to protect.

We are indeed the last of a dying breed...and this is notably the only enclave of its kind in the Tucson area...but as long as our guests of many seasons continue to return because they love the place, and we are able to pay the taxes and repel developers, we will continue to operate it as it is. What you see is what you get - no glitz, no hype - just peace, quiet, and the Sonoran Desert as it was a hundred and more years ago.

We are always pleased to share our little corner of the world with people who appreciate what the Flying V is. As Arizona summers can be uncomfortably warm, business is slow, and so we are able to offer monthly rates and longer stays in June, July, August and September. Feel free to inquire - all our units are different and therefore prices differ. Our summers are cooler than local Tucson weather by ten degrees due to the 3,000' altitude and the canyon breezes. Our pool is Solar heated year-round. All the Cabins have individually controlled air-conditioning/heating units. Many of our guests use the ranch as a base, taking day trips around Southern Arizona and returning here at night. Our rainy season starts in July and continues (if the Gods bless us) into September. Depending on the amount of rain and its duration, the creek in the canyon will run, and the desert blooms with summer wildflowers and an amazing amount of lush greenery. At such times the little critters are in abundance; like us, they too enjoy a respite from the dryness and the extreme heat!
