      Macaroni & Cheese

      *Ingredients*

      1 pkg (16 oz) elbow macaroni
      1 onion minced
      1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
      6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
      4 cups milk
      4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
      1 teaspoon  dry mustard
      1/2 teaspoon salt
      1/2 teaspoon pepper
      1 1/2 cups fresh bread crumbs
       
       

      *Preparation*

      Prepare pasta as directed, cooking only 6 minutes; drain.

      Cook and stir onion in 6 tablesppons of butter until tender.  Stir in flour.  Gradually stir in milk.  Cook and stir until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.  Stir in cheese, mustard, salt and pepper.

      Mix pasta and sauce in a very large bowl.

      Pour into 13 x 9 inch baking dish.

      Melt remaining 2 tablespons butter.  Stir in bread crumbs; spinkle over pasta.

      Bake at 350 degrees F. for 35 minutes or until lightly browned.
