Natalie's impatience to leave was reaching critical levels. Her original flight had been canceled due to freak weather conditions, and the earliest they could leave was in a week. As happy as she was that she and Lucien had patched up their differences, she was still impatient. She wanted to go back to Toronto, settle in and see her friends. Restlessly, she paced. While she and Lucien had made up, she smiled slightly as she remember just how they'd made up, he'd been somewhat distracted over the past couple of days. When she'd asked him about it, he'd only smiled. She hadn't even been able to pick up a hint of what he was up to from his blood.
Sighing in disgust, Natalie slumped into a chair. She hated waiting and doing nothing!
===============
Lucien LaCroix could sense his newest child's frustration as he ascended the stairs. Impatient to be on the move, Natalie had not been pleased with having to wait a week for a new flight. Over the past two days, LaCroix had been thinking about all his children, and the way he had treated him. He knew Natalie had sensed his distraction, and had been intensely curious about it, but he had managed to hide his thoughts from her.
He'd come to realize that he had made many mistakes with both Janette and Nicholas, mistakes that had poisoned his relationship with both of them. Without even realizing it, he had started to follow the same pattern with Natalie. Natalie, however, had refused to allow it. Her rebellion had shocked and angered him at first, but he had soon realized she was right.
He paused in front of the door to Natalie's room. He was determined that this time he would not drive away someone he had come to love. To that end, he'd spent that last two days arranging several surprises for her.
==========
A light knock on her door, followed by its opening drew Nat's attention. She smiled as Lucien entered. Returning her smile, Lucien strode over and pulled Natalie to her feet.
"I know you have been impatient to leave, so, I have arranged a charter flight to take us to Toronto. It will leave in 3 hours."
Natalie slid her arms around his neck and pulled him into a searing kiss. She allowed her pleasure to flow through their bond.
"Thank you Lucien," she said a bit breathlessly, once they separated.
"You are quite welcome, Natalie. Now, we haven't much time, shall we?" He asked as he held out his arm for her.
"We shall." Natalie replied as she slipped her arm though his and they headed for the door.
==============
The bump of the landing gear jarred Natalie awake and they landed. Glancing at her watch, and doing some mental arithmetic, she realized that dawn wasn't far off. The crew had already opened the door, and Lucien was getting up. Standing, she followed Lucien off the plane, through customs (always easier with a well placed whammy) to the street where a blacked out limo waited.
"We don't have time to make it to Toronto, but I've made arrangements for us" Lucien told her as she slid inside the limo. Young for a vampire, Natalie had little resistance to the compulsion to sleep when the sun was up. She merely nodded tiredly at him as the limo pulled away.
Twenty minutes later, the limo pulled up in front of a stately home in an obviously upscale neighborhood. Once inside, Natalie, although dying to explore the house, was barely able to stay awake. She allowed Lucien to lead her to a bedroom, and steer her to the bed.
"After you wake up, Natalie, we'll discus what to do tonight."
Barely acknowledging his statement, Natalie was asleep before her head hit the pillow.
For a moment, Lucien watched her sleep, a tender look on his face. He was determined that he would not loose this woman he had come to love.
