Firebinder's Half-Life Pages

SITE NEWS

December 10, 2004
Okay, I've been at this for three years now, and still going. Of course it's been awhile since my last update. Hey - I've been distracted - like all good Half-Life fans I've been playing Half-Life 2! I guess I should write a reveiw, but for now let me just say that the game is truely awesome - although the registration process is horrible.

I've also been continuing to work away on LostTime, and in fact I've set up a seperate website now just for it. Pretty cool site design too, if I do say so myself. So go check out the LostTime website!

I've added some new screenshots from
Losttime which really show off a few of my new models. I've also moved the old Losttime screenshots off to a page of just Screenshots from Issues.

Not much real news to report, but I'm still here and still mapping, making progress on the new, improved LostTime project. I've been doing a lot of modelling with Milkshape, and should have some cool screenshots to share soon. In the meantime, I've updated the
Losttime Progress Chart with the elements I want to include in the expanded project.

Well it's been a bit since my last post. Completing a project like Issues is kind of draining, and I took a bit of a vacation from mapping after finally getting it published. I've recovered now though, and I've started mapping again. I've decided to rework LostTime into a stand alone mod, and I'm determined to make it bigger and better. You can read more about it on the new
LostTime page.

By the way, Issues had gotten it's first review. Check out what Spect3r had to say about it over at Ten-Four Maps.

ISSUES has been released!!! Yes it's true - we finally go this bird off the ground. Announcments have gone out all over the place, and we're already getting feedback (some people play fast!). For more detail, go to the
LostTime page.

You can download it at the following:

File Planet
Half-Life Mods.com (temporarily down)
HL Core
BitTorrent Peer-to-Peer

Issues is about to be released! All the maps are done, the testing is done, and the final package is assembled (weighing in zipped at nearly 45Mb). The only thing left to do is to get the blasted thing hosted at a major download site - which is proving more difficult (or at least more time-consuming) than we expected. In the meantime the
Issues website has had a major update, including all new screenshots on the media page.

I've got a few more screenshots from my new level,
The Train. I made a new seat model, that I think you'll agree is a big improvement over the original.

Well, so much for a Christmas release of ISSUES, but it is nearly complete now. Basically we're waiting on just one more level, which hopefully will be submitted in a week or two. Before that, however, I'll be posting a final-beta for the team to give a last look-over prior to general release. At least I will if our host will fix the problem with his ftp connection.

In the meantime I've started a new mapping project, tentatively titled "The Train". It will be a short single-player adventure in which the player, as Gordon Freeman, will help Amtrak handle some unruly passengers and deal with a few public safety related problems. To cover it I've started a new page, and posted a screen-shot or two.

It's the site's 2nd anniversary!

ISSUES is finished with beta testing, and now we're moving into the final assembly stage. There was some really good feedback from our beta testers, and I think it will greatly improve our maps - I know my maps have benefited! At this point I am awaiting the submission of our member's final maps (and fixing up a few last minute details myself). It looks like we might actually get this mod released before Christmas. Maybe. Anyway, To celebrate the site anniversary, I've posted a bunch of new screenshots from Lost Time for you.

ISSUES has reached the beta testing stage!!! Stop by the
Issues Forum if you'd like to be a beta tester. The full press release is posted over on the Lost Time page.

ISSUES is slowly drawing near completion. We've ended up with about 16 maps. Now it's just a matter of getting all the level transitions working and killing a few bugs. We'll be a little while longer, so to entertain you in the meantime I've added a few more
screenshots.

I've posted a new beta version of my work for ISSUES. This one includes my Hub Map, 3 tiny filler maps (to demonstrate the hub), and the 3 maps that make up the Lost Time Level itself. Unfortunately due to space restrictions imposed by my ISP I've had to break it up into 4 separate files. You can download them from my
Downloads page. This is still a beta version, so if you play it let me know what you think.

Well, I've nearly got the entire Lost Time level ready for beta testing. All that remains are troubleshooting a few minor bugs, finetuning the gameplay, and maybe adding a detail or two. I hope to release a beta version of it in the next week or two. In the meantime, I've added a few more
screenshots .
