Elvis Presley was an idol to teens in the 1950's and 60's. 
One couldn't help but notice Elvis--he stood out, And...
..He  shook us up!...ehhuh, huh.

Elvis --sleepy eyes, side burns, deep voice and expressive lips.

The big event of the fifties (1956) was Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan show.    We wanted to hear him  sing and watch him move. But  Ed Sullivan wouldn't let the cameras film Elvis's jerky legs.  It was disappointing that we didn't get to see all his cool moves...but exciting anyway.
