("We play for weddings, bnei mitzva, or circumcisions -- on the cutting edge of Jewish music.")
We are amateur musicians who play the nigunim of the shtetlach -- the melodies from the little towns of the old country. It is "Fiddler on the Roof" type of music, but the real, echtige thing, not ersatz broadway
If you're planning a simcha and thinking of hiring professional musicians, do so. We don't want to take work away from honest musicians (or even dishonest musicians). But if you aren't thinking of having anyone -- we're better.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE (besides your hearing?)
WE ARE (at the moment) LOOKING FOR MUSICIANS TO JOIN US
If you love the music and would like to join, send me e-mail. Enthusiasm is more imporant than talent (though talent doesn't hurt either.) If you want to make a lot of money and have nubile youths of your gender preference throwing themselves at your feet - we probably can't help you. But if you love Jewish soul music - we're your band.
WE ARE (at the moment) FIVE

Shmuel the Pikler Our percussionist sees into the innermost reaches of humanity. I won't tell you what his day-job is. |
Liz on Reeds Liz is a bicostal personality. But she plays a mean clarinet. |
Zvi likes to write SF and walk along the beach. Wait - this isn't supposed to be a personal's ad. |
Jules on Keyboard Jules also plays the saxophone. He hasn't yet tried the sitar, but we're patient.. |
Rocky the Guitarist Our alpha guitar player has never been in the boxing ring, but we can't figure out what else to call him. |
MORE PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS TO COME
LISTEN TO US PLAYING FRAYLACHS HERE and HERE on MP3s.
LISTEN HERE ON QUICKTIME Nu -- a professional recording it is not, but what can I say? You can download quicktime free here. If you have trouble installing the plugin, let me know.
