Dobbs, USNR of Ackerman, Mississippi, b. 02/18/1909, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in 1932, accepted command of the Fessenden after a brief commissioning exercise on August 25, 1943. Capt. Dobbs, USNR as Commanding Officer the New York Navy Yard<;Died on March 31, 1984 at Pascagoula,  MS.
