Finding a new vet for your fuzzy friend can be difficult, and we are here to help! Below are some typical questions that you can use to "interview" your new vet before making an appointment. 1. How many ferrets do you see a week and do you like working with them?
2. What is your fee for a ferret checkup?
3. What do you charge for rabies and distemper shots?
4. What vaccine brands are you using?
5. How many ferret surgeries do you perform in one month?
6. What types of surgeries and their average costs?
7. Do you subscribe to any publication or attend small animal conferences to learn more about ferret medicine?
8. Do you subscribe to any veterinary medical journals?
9. Do you have Internet access?
10. If not, would you read ferret material brought to you taken from the Internet? (try Ferret Central for great FAQ's for your vet!)
11. Would you consult with other ferret knowledgeable vets on an as needed basis?
12. What are your office hours?
13. Do you have emergency hours?
14. If not, is there an after hour service you recommend?
