Miss Bomarc of Utah
The 1950s. The Age of Elvis, President Eisenhower, and the Cold War. Critical to the Nation's Defense: a growing arsenal of guided missiles, including the CIM-10A Bomarc. And standing behind, beside, and anywhere else in the general vicinity of the Bomarcs were the Missile Maidens. Nothing in the Soviet arsenal could match them. This is their story, now reproduced here as it first appeared in AMC WORLDWIDE,* vol I, no. 7 (April, 1958). The story employs the following military acronyms. AMC = Air Materiel Command
OOAMA = Ogden Air Materiel Area, a U. S. Air Force maintenance and supply facility located at Hill AFB near Odgen, Utah.
*"AMC WORLDWIDE is an official Air Force magazine published monthly by the Office of Information Services, Air Materiel Command....Use of funds for printing this publication approved by the Secretary of the Air Force and the Director of the Bureau of the Budget January 18, 1957.
