The closed waterproof container. Note that the overall length must be less than about 6.7", or else it will keep the thermos stopper from sealing all the way down. Make sure that when the stopper is tightened with the pen container inside the thermos, that it is as far down as when the thermos is empty. Test this without a Ziploc bag around the container. Using a Ziploc bag is also extra insurance, but remember that the bags are 7" tall and have to be compressed slightly to tighten the stopper fully.
