MATH GAMES FOR SALE!

In my classroom I use (among many others!) two different dice games that can be adapted to many skills and themes. I'm offering for sale a collection of over 100 game sheets. These sheets help students practice numeral recognition, number word recognition, coin recognition and amounts, geometry, fractions, counting on to add, single digit addition and subtraction and double digit addition and subtraction through 20 without regrouping.

Both styles of games involve using number cubes. In my classroom, I have leftover blue and red cubes from an old math series. The blue cubes have numerals 5-10 on them and the red cubes have 0-5 on them. Some games utilize dotted dice (1-6) but most require the red and blue cubes. If you do not have these cubes, you can adapt the game boards by changing one or more numbers on the sheet. For example, if a game calls for using 2 red cubes and adding, the lowest sum would be 0 and the highest sum be 10. To adapt this game to the use of two dotted dice, you would need to change the 0 and 1 and add 11 and 12 in their places. All other numbers would remain the same.

The "bump" style game is played like this: Two students share a game board and a set of dice/cubes. Each student needs a set of "players" such as unifix cubes or bingo chips. Each player needs approximately 15 of one color player and his/her partner needs a set in a different color. When you roll the dice, you add/subtract according to the directions and place one of your cubes on the picture above the sum/difference rolled. Take turns playing. If your partner rolls the same number that your cube is on, he/she may "bump" it off! If you roll the same number again, you can put two cubes/chips on that picture and now you "own" it and your partner cannot bump it off and must lose his/her turn if that number is rolled. The game is won if you have more cubes on the board.

The other game involves students working in pairs again. This time each child has his/her own sheet and a marker/crayon. They take turns rolling the cubes/dice and then they add/subtract. They then color the picture on their sheet with the sum/difference that they rolled. If you roll a number that is already colored, you lose a turn. Children take turns and the game is won if you have more pictures colored than your partner.

The games are designed with pictures to reflect the various seasons, holidays and themes we study in our first grade class. Most use clipart, but some are hand-drawn. I'm not an artist, but the kids don't seem to mind!
