Laissez les bon temps roullez! "..let the good times roll !!" Midi playing "Don't Mess With My Toot Toot"
And roll they did at the very lovely country home of Edna & Tony Carroll, parents of the groom, and the scene for the party after the wedding rehearsal. Best described as a "Mardi Gras luau" the setting was perfect around a beautiful pool and deck, complete with a serving bar. I'm sure The Mardi Gras atmosphere brought back memories of Zydeco music in Debbie, the bride's mother. I know it did for me. "Don't Mess With My Toot Toot" has long been a favorite of ours, having worked on the production and distribution of the '45 many years ago. So Debo this one's for you!
A grand selection of food and drinks were on the menu, and a delicious fruit table courtesy of and created by Gerald Oden. ![]()
Wade Carroll and friends (and a half moon over Alabama) Debbie and Gerald Oden, parents of the bride reigned as king and queen of the festivities. ![]()
And I must say Gerald was born to the role! ![]()
A Royal Kiss ![]()
However, I don't think anyone had more fun than Dennis father of the bride...pictured here with Christie & Charlie. Both he and Charlie reside in Louisiana.<
Well maybe Wade Arrington, the bride's brother may have run a close second in the "having fun" category. ![]()
Christie & brother, Wade The large deck served as the stage for the entertainment of the evening which was Live Karaoke. There were many entertainers on tap, and the later it got, the more there were. As previously stated everything coming out of the south seems to have more passion....well the karaoke of the evening was no exception. My understanding is most of these people don't even talk much. But put a microphone in their hands and a "touch of the brew" in the system, and voila! Instant Nashville. ![]()
"Just hold your horses! You'll get your turn!" ![]()
"Ya'll can line up as far back as Texas, it ain't gonna hurry me one bit!" ![]()
"Let's hear it for The LSU TIGER-R-R-R-S!"
(Now that's a good 'ol Louisiana bred boy!) Not that Nashville wasn't already represented by the presence of Delores Dea, the bride's aunt, Cheryl Dea Mahoney, cousin, and Sheila, Gavin and David Dea, also cousins. Kudos to Delores for providing all photos and scanning for this page. King Gerald's son, Justin (indigestion?) was there along with Gerald's sister Billie and Mother Mrs. Free, one of the Grandmothers in attendance. Lovely Mardi Gras outfit sported by Grandmother Free! And they came all the way from Shreveport, Louisiana to attend this gala event!
Here's another sweetie that traveled all the way from Shreveport.. one of the bride's Grandmothers, Mrs. Maxine Arrington Also LouAnn Jackson (left) the bride's aunt and husband Mike, from the great state of Louisiana. I'm not sure about the lady in the center, but she has a lovely light on her head! Looks like she's had fun!! (It's really Angela's Mom ..just a little humor) LouAnn created the Mardi Gras theme for the party and did a fantastic job decorating. An interesting note..Christie's "going away" dress was once LouAnn's wedding dress. Altered for the occasion it was adorable. We stand on tradition in Dixie. Other out-of-towners attending the wedding were Payton Dea (brother of the bride's mother) with his wife Rose from Dallas and daughter, Brandi Strickland from Monroe, Louisiana. And Donnis Coleman (brides's mother's sister) with her husband, Herman Coleman along with cousins, Laura, Joshua, and Donnis (Sissy) Piper all from Shreveport, Louisiana. And speaking of the bride's mother, also in attendance was part of the Queen's court, her good friend Trudy. This is about as close as they got to the pool all night! It's a hair thing I presume. But aren't they "coiffed" lovely. Click for more..much more!
More pictures and in my humble opinion
