Written Summary:
This video
is purported to teach a viewer how to defend against a mass attack of groups ranging
from 2 to 3 against one and with no weapons involved. Anyone who is an orange belt
or higher in most systems will have seen and done the material on this tape. There
is nothing particularly revealing or enlightening other than to tell people they
are in big trouble when they face 2 or more opponents. Duh. Mr. Vunak also tells
people to use improvised weapons when confronted with 2 or more attackers. Gosh,
I never thought of that one either. There is some emphasis on footwork but most of
the footwork demonstrated is strictly instinctive for most people. I felt there was
way too much wasted footage of watching various unknown students of Mr. Vunak trying
to do imitations of Barry Sanders juking and dodging. There are some barroom scenarios
featuring Mr. Vunak but the material to me seemed trite and repetitive. Headbutt,
elbow, and hit ‘em with a weapon should be the name of this segment.
While
the material on this video will be of some benefit to those who have never actually
trained against 2 or more atackers, I feel the majority of martial arts schools today
expose their students to this kind of training already. I know I was way back when
I was an orange belt. Because of this, I feel that this video is aimed at those with
little to no knowledge of how to deal with 2 or more opponents. Most experienced
martial artists will probably feel this information is too basic for them, and better
for beginners.
