Written Summary:

Mr. Cerio is well known in the " Kenpo World ". I have been reading about him for years in various martial arts magazines. In this introductory tape of sorts, it is clear that he knows and understands his art.

The viewer is treated to approximately 25 or so techniques done by Mr Cerio against a variety of hand attacks and grabs. Kenpo is known for the rapid fire attacks and counterattacks using primarily the hands. In this video we get a glimpse into the speed at which these techniques can be executed as we watch Mr. Cerio at work. Mr. Cerio does more than simply show techniques to the viewer. He takes the time to discuss and explain what might be called " Kenpo Concepts ". Some of these terms and/or concepts are " Every block is a strike, every strike is a block ". He also gives examples of " limb checking " and redirecting incoming attacks.

One very important concept discussed by Mr. Cerio is learning to develop ones own sensitivity to your opponent's body movement so as to detect where their next strike may be coming from.

In the final section, he shows the use of Kenpo hands used in conjunction with takedowns, something that most people do not associate as being in the arsenal of a skilled Kenpoist. He works these takedowns from the outside ( the cold side ) and from the inside ( the hot side ).

If you are one of those people who would like to learn more about Kenpo, then this video would be a great introduction. The material on this tape could also be readily interfaced with any other striking art that the viewer may have studied before. More advanced martial artists may have seen most of this in before, but I loved watching Mr. Cerio do it from a Kenpo mind set. This was a very enjoyable video. My only complaint is that it is only 30 minutes long, but you still get a good bang for your buck because the tape isn't overpriced. I can't wait to review more videos by Mr. Cerio. Frankly, I want to see more of Kenpo Hands.
