The need to buy additional
tapes to understand this one: Other tapes in the series provide information on how
to do the techniques.
Written Summary:
This tape is an extension
of the aikijujitsu techniques shown on previous tapes in this series. It provides
empty hand street applications. The hakamas and gi's worn by Mr. Ibarra and his uke
have been replaced with street clothes to give the video a more realistic look and
feel.
The main point I would like to make about this video is that some of
the more complex " dojo only " moves seen on the previous tapes have been
replaced with more simplified techniques. This is a great idea because on the street,
simplicity and directness should be the order of the day. I expected to see the same
complicated moves that I saw on the previous video so I was very pleased to see Mr.
Ibarra modify the techniques to fit the street. That said, I do believe that many
of techniques that were unrealistic for street application. . The techniques shown
dealt with various grabs, punches, tackles, and chokes and featured hip throws, shoulder
throws, elbow locks, wrist locks and chokes.
Once again I feel like there
were too many repetitions of the same technique. Personally, I would have liked to
have seen more techniques and less repetition. This video, as all the others in this
series, was well produced but Panthers obsession with showing a technique way too
many
times makes this video a less than average value for the money.
