Written Summary:
This video is another
high quality production from Panther featuring Miguel Ibarra. The format is identical
to the previous tape in this series ( see previous review on "Fundamental Techniques
of Aikijujitsu" ) only more advanced. The techniques shown are required for
brown belt level in aikijujitsu, according to Panther, and are based on techniques
shown in the previous tape in this series. Mr. Ibarra is a wonderful martial artist
and that is seen very clearly on this tape as he throws his uke all over the place
in this one. There are joint locks, throws, takedowns, chokes, and come alongs against
a variety of attacks that include various grabs and strikes. While many of the techniques
shown on this video are seen in the previous tape, there are more advanced applications
of these same techniques so the video is not " more of the same ". This
video must be watched very closely in order to learn how to apply these techniques
correctly but Mr. Ibarra's narration is very good at helping the viewer understand
what is happening.
Once again, my major criticism of this video is the large
number of repetitions of each technique. Panther is notorious for showing the same
technique a ridiculous number of times. As I have said in other reviews, Panther
has the highest “ cost/technique shown “ of all the major martial art video producers.
This
video is better suited for the more advanced martial artist. Beginners should probably
see the first tape in the series to fully understand the basics behind each technique.
I thought material on this video was a little better than average but the ridiculous
number of repetitions makes the value of this tape below average
