Written Summary:

This video is a comprehensive look at the filipino martial arts as interpreted and taught by Datu Kelly Worden. This video is very comprehensive. The material taught covers footwork angles, numerous hand techniques, many locking and throwing techniques, blocking, parrying, trapping, gunting, and some blade work. Basically this video is a kind of “ mini course “ in the filipino martial arts. I will say that this is not really a video for beginners. Mr. Worden covers a LOT of ground very quickly and if one does not have a basic background in place, one could easily get lost in such a vast amount of material. Mr. Worden begins the video with an extensive section on footwork angles and their application. From here, Mr. Worden moves into the section on hand techniques including parrying and blocking. There are a lot of techniques shown including joint locks, takedowns, and throws in addition to the hand techniques. There is also a nice section on blade work and how it relates to empty hand application as well. The final portion of the video deals with guntings ( limb destructions ). Having watched a great deal of videos dealing with the filipino arts, I actually saw a few new things on this one.

As I said earlier, this is a mini-course in the filipino martial arts. In my opinion, the people who would benefit most from this video are intermediate to advanced martial artists, or people who have already been exposed to the filipino arts to some degree. If you fall into this category, then you would be wise to purchase this video for your library.
