Written Summary:
Wow, good tape from
Turtle Press. By now I'm sure everyone, including all the various martial arts video
companies, are checking out these reviews are wondering why we're giving the "Turtle"
tapes such high scores. Well I'll tell everyone why. Because they're good tapes,
period.
There were over 20 good knife defense techniques shown on this tape.
Some I knew, but many I'd never seen before. This tape was truly an eye-opener. It
really got me to thinking about all the various knife defense possibilities by combining
various pieces of what I saw. To me the mark of a really good self-defense tape is
one that opens your eyes and allows you to think about, and create on your own, infinite
possibilities and variations. Or better put, taking a piece here, an idea there,
and putting them together.
As far as the scoring goes, Turtle earned (7)
"10's". The tape was solid, and very well done. The only reason it didn't
score a little higher, is because I somewhat wondered how practical were the techniques,
and how long would they take to master. The last thing any of is want is to get
cut because you're trying to use some very complicated technciqe. Very flashy techniques
for a "tournament" or "testing" situation, but for real? However,
if you're interested in knife defense you might want to get it. And if you aren't,
you might want to consider owning it just for the various control and restraint techniques
shown. Besides with Turtles 5/$100 program, it's definitely a bargain.
