Written Summary:
This video
is an attempt to show the viewer what to do when two opponents clinch in the standing
position. There are a number of techniques presented in this video, some of which
are illegal. I didn’t count the number of techniques the first time I viewed this
tape and couldn’t bear the thought of watching this video again just to count the
number of moves. It has been on my shelf at home untouched for a number of years
and once this review is completed back to the shelf it will go to collect more dust.
Here is some of what is shown on this tape. Strikes from the clinch, which include
open handed strikes, elbows, punches, knees, forearm smashes, groin grabs and biting.
These are aimed at various targets such as the head area, throat, tricep, ribs, chest,
legs and eyes. Also shown is a wrist throw and several wrist locks from the clinch.
Some of the moves would be good in the street situation however they were very basic
and mostly just common sense.
All of the techniques presented were done as
a single technique. There were no setups to the moves, combinations of techniques
or what to do after you have done the single technique. Mr. Hart gives a very brief
and non detailed description of each of the moves. Also there was too much repetition
is this video. Most moves were shown 5 times fast then 5 times again in slow motion.
I found Mr. Hart’s assistant in this video quite annoying at times and often his
reactions to the techniques presented looked like something out of a B grade Kung
Fu movie. Bottom line pass on this video. Even with the Panther deal of 5 video’s
for $99.00 it is still not worth owning.
