Written Summary:
This is going to be an all-in-one review of this 6 tape Liedke series. Instead of doing 6 separate reviews, we're going to cover all 6 tapes in this one review. I just don't have the time to do 6 separate reviews on a tape series! And doing it this way allows me to knock-this-one-out and more quickly move on to something else!
In the past I've reviewed some Aikido tapes/series, and at times thought several didn't really break-down each technique well enough, so that anyone could easily repeat what was shown. I felt Liedke did an excellent job of breaking-down each technique. I also liked the way Liedke taught the concepts and physical movements of each technique, and in many instances provided a close-up when it was needed.
As I've noticed on other Aikido tapes, there were techniques that require a person develop split second speed/timing, in order for them to work. But the beauty/grace of them, and the ease with which they are executed, certainly make them appealing. On the whole, I felt the Aikido techniques Liedke demonstrates could be learned easier than those on some other Aikido tapes I own. Certain Aikido videos I've seen in the past show a technique at 100 mph, and quickly move on to something else, leaving me afterwards thinking "OK, how about breaking that down, and explaining what just happened"
I saw many things I liked in this series and most all of it had value and made sense.
If you don't have much exposure to Aikido, or have a slight interest in finding out more about it, I would check out these videos. They certainly showed a variety of Aikido techniques for self defense situations and attacks.
In todays often pricey tape market, at only $10 per tape/dvd, I felt these were a hidden treasure and great bargain! 6 tapes for $60, how can you go wrong? Especially when now days there are some companies that charge $60 for just one tape! If I were you, and had even a slight interest, I'd hurry and get them, just in case Century decides someday they can increase the price and sell them for more!
