Place-Name Concordance

The accepted English version of a place-name is used (except where noted) or, for smaller places where an English-equivalent name is lacking, another generally-accepted western-language name.

Normally, the place-name used is the one contemporaneous with the event. For instance, in 1871 the French town of Soultz-sous-Forêts became the German town of Sulz-unterm-Wald, and so forth in 1919, 1940, and 1945.
