Captain Everett Hoffman

USCG 50 ton Master's License w/ commercial assistance towing endorsement

Yacht deliveries (power or sail), on-board instruction for new boat owners, introduction to cruising. Also available as a winter captain in a warm climate.

I bought my first boat, a 28' Pearson Triton sailboat in 1978 when I was a member of the Toms River yacht club in Toms River, NJ. For several years I sailed and raced in Barnegat Bay and also competed twice in the BVI Spring Regatta in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. In the mid 1980's, we purchased property on Swan's Island, Maine, and I began exploring the magnificent coast of Maine by chartering several times from Hinckley Yacht Charters and others and then in our own boats. In the mid 1990's, my wife and I purchased a Hatteras Long Range Cruiser which we lived aboard for six months at a time for a period of seven years during which we completed six trips on the intra-Coastal Waterway and crossed the Gulf Stream six times going to and from the Bahama Islands. Our travels took us from the Chesapeake Bay to Tarpon Springs, Florida and out to the Dry Tortugas. We also covered most of the Bahama chain from Grand Bahama Island down to the Exumas and out to Cat Island, Little San Salvador, Eleuthera and the Abacos.Having sold the trawler and being interested in staying on the water, I completed the requirements for two USCG licenses and am now available for any of the services listed above. I am particularly interested in instructing new boat owners and in overseeing someone's vessel during the winter months.I am a conservative, safety-oriented skipper who has maintained his own vessels to the highest standard and since my primary interest is additional time on the water, I think you will find that my rates for any of these services are extremely reasonable.
