Emery Worldwide Airlines is officially no longer. The airline surrendered its air carrier certificate on Dec. 4 as agreed to with the Department of Transportation last spring. DOT issued a notice that it had revoked the certificate held since 1989 on Dec. 17. The airline voluntarily shut down Aug. 13, 2001, in the wake of a Federal Aviation Administration safety audit and never restarted flying. Emery Forwarding's Dayton air hub operation is performed by a variety of contract airlines.
