May 25 Protest of Janet Reno in Florida

Authorities divided protesters with opposing views on the seizure of Elian Gonzalez by barricades across from the Sheraton Hotel in Bal Harbour, Fla., where Attorney General Janet Reno was scheduled to deliver the keynote address at Florida's First 151 Women Lawyers meeting Thursday, May 25, 2000. More than 600 people demonstrated outside the beachfront hotel.
