The Sherlock Holmes Effect
How the Arthur Conan Doyle Classics
Influence Contemporary Mysteries

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born a little over 150 years ago, in 1859. His four novels and fifty-six short stories about Sherlock Holmes—known collectively to Holmes enthusiasts as “the Canon”—set the gold standard for great mystery writing, and anticipated much of todayÕs forensic science practices. Join moderator E. J. Wagner and a panel of distinguished mystery authors as they discuss the effects of the Canon on their writings and those of other contemporary mystery writers.
