Abstract A paracorporeal pump-oxygenator (AMMO) was developed incorporating a microporous hollow fiber-based rotational element that simultaneously accomplishes both mass exchange and blood pumping. The AMMO device was developed by leveraging computer aided engineering and rapid prototyping strategies. The developed technology is intended to serve as a cornerstone for the development of a chronic artificial lung. XX
