Abstract The selective laser sintering process allowed OEM, PAPA Pumps, Cornwall, England to switch to injection-molded plastic. DTM Corp., Austin, Texas, and the University of Exeter in Devon, England, teamed recently to help produce testable prototypes for a water-powered pump design. The functional prototypes were produced in DTM's DuraForm (polyamide) material on a DTM Sinterstation[R] SLS[R] system. PAPA Pumps traditionally makes its pumps by casting them from stainless steel or bronze before machining the castings. XX
