Abstract The authors examine failure in molds produced by stereolithography. Polystyrene is injection molded into molds made from DSM Somos 7110 stereolithography resin to determine the failure mechanisms for raised features on the mold. Experimental results are compared to 2 theoretical models: one that predicts failure during injection and another failure during ejection. Injection failure occurs in taller mold features. When the stress due to ejection exceeds the yield strength of the mold material, ejection failures occur in shorter mold features. XX
