Abstract Rapid prototyping (RP) is constantly discovering new applications in fields such as medicine, art, mathematics, and education. The technique quickly builds physical models and prototype parts layer by layer from liquid, powder, or sheet materials. It allows designers and engineers to get a better idea of whether a product or part they have developed will work. Also, prototypes can be presented to customers for feedback before production, saving significant amounts of production time and costs. Some of the innovative and successful applications that RP has been used for are discussed. XX
