17. Draft angle and surface roughness effects on stereolithography molds.

Author Cedorge, Thomas. Colton, Jonathan.

Source Polymer Engineering & Science. v. 40 no7, July 2000, p. 1581-8.

Abstract The authors investigated the effect of draft angle and roughness on ejection forces operating inside a stereolithographic mold. Increasing the draft angle was found not to necessarily assist the ejection of the part from the mold. This was due to a trade-off developing between the draft angle and the frictional forces working on the part. A model was developed, based on Glanvill's equation, to predict ejection forces. This model was found to be consistent with the experimental results obtained. XX
