Abstract Part of a special section on the U.K. National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR). PDR was awarded the World-wide Stereolithography Excellence Award 2000 at a World User Group conference in Los Angeles, California. The center received the award for its pioneering work on the production of a Bosch alternator component. This consisted of several complex over-molded metal parts. PDR, in conjunction with Waldon Precision Mouldings, Llantrisant, Wales, produced an encapsulated component straight off the machine, eliminating complex and expensive downstream processes. XX
