Abstract New layerwise processing methods will allow combinations of chemical and thermal forming of materials to produce structures that cannot be generated by conventional processes. This paper describes the use of extrusion freeform fabrication to make multiple layers of two hydrogels and measurements on the swelling properties of these stacks.
