Abstract This paper reports that the Japanese Manufacturing Education Systems cannot afford the current and future demands from a real manufacturing world and are forced to be reconstructed. A brief summary of the current systems and the new trials of manufacturing curricula are introduced. Just like a concurrent engineering is truly required in a real world, it is strongly desired to adapt the manufacturing curricula to the real engineering world as soon as possible. For this purpose, it is a key issue to connect the design curricula to the manufacturing ones. The best examples are found to have adapted CAD/CAM and rapid-prototyping in engineering education.
