Abstract Rapid part manufacturing (RPM) technologies, which merge computer-aided-design technology with new material processing technologies, such as stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), and other techniques to produce solid models and prototypes, are discussed. Secondary processing systems currently allow conversion of solid models into functioning manufactured parts by means of traditional manufacturing systems. The basis of these technological advances in RPM are described. [References: 9] XX
