Abstract The authors developed a rational Bezier representation of 2-parameter freeform motions. It is shown that the trajectory surface of such a motion is a tensor-product rational Bezier surface. It is also shown that such a freeform kinematic surface has a kinematic control structure as well as a geometric control structure. The results obtained can be used as a basis for the development of new geometric design methods and for the manufacture of freeform surfaces. XX
