Abstract The dimensions of pattern, surface quality, time and cost are considered to compare the methods of stereolithography (SL) and fused deposition modeling (FDM) for parts producing. It is shown that the SL method is superior to FDM method in preciseness and surface quality as well as in fitness of pattern to further treatment. Manufacturing the precision articles is expedient by the stereolithographic method only. XX
