Atco Raceway, Atco NJ sometime
in June. 11.6 and 11.8 runs.
Driven to and from the track
on its own power, no trailer here.
Probably the last time the car
is seen with those sweet 17" Racing Hart Tracers.
Maple Grove Raceway, PA NIRA
event. Past the finish line the passenger-side slick grabs onto the fender,
brakes lock up, and car does a 180-deg slide. Fortunately owner/driver
Arvin was able to control it. Witnesses say the car was on two wheels for
a while :-o
Fastest/quickest Honda of that
event, but we get no print from the magazines. Super Street's Howard Lim
was seen running to the car right after the run to see the damage but was
turned away by officials. On Nitto 555s and a very babied launch the car
ran 12.2@118mph. Bad luck strikes us again when the wastegate flange starts
leaking after that run. Oh well, maybe next race.
OUCH! First & only run on
this Bogart wheel. The slick was reused tho.
Also the first time we ran the
AXZ equal-length stainless header.
JG header cracked the previous
weekend, but that was our fault.
A week later at Raceway Park
in Englishtown NJ the car ran an 11.42 but at a lower trap speed than the
11.44 run. Bad launch...60ft time was either a 1.9 or 2.0, I saw a lot
of tirespin and heard the rev limiter hit in 1st gear (9,000 RPM). After
this run we were hearing a sound similar to what a bad axle might make.
We locked up the car and left the track searching for Integra axles. Came
back a few hours empty handed, track was closing up. A test drive of the
car on its street wheels didn't indicate any problems. Later we find out
the noise was coming from the borrowed rims mounted on the slicks.
This was also around the time
the engine blew up. Stock sleeves + 15psi at full throttle for 15-20 miles
= cracked cylinder walls.
Put together another engine
using the same rods and pistons to get it running for the Import Autorama.
If you wonder why we reused the pistons, it's called money...lack of it
that is.

The license plate isn't for
show, it was driven the 90min-2hr trip each way.
More bad luck. Two days after dynoing the engine blew up again. Once again the cylinder walls were cracked. We have no more money to continue the rest of the '98 season.
