Mustered in 30 Dec `61. Discharged 16 Feb `63 on Surgeon's Certificate due to dropsy & paralysis of left arm. Took up residence at New Castle, Lawrence Co., PA. Admitted 25 July 1878 to the National Military Home, Dayton, OH where he died of paralysis of the heart on 16 March 1879. Buried in the National Military Home Cemetery near Dayton, OH. Grave # 20.

Married Laura V. & Mary K. Died 18 Jan 1913 at Elizabeth, PA. Buried in Elizabeth Cemetery, Allegheny Co., PA. Headstone states name as Alcander, but other records state name as Alexander.

MANN, Robert R. - 1st Corporal, Co. H. Born about 1834 in PA, the son of James & Rebecca (Lindsay) Mann. Enlisted at age 27, a Boat Builder from Beaver Co., PA. Mustered in 29 Oct `61. MANSFIELD, James Fitzsimmons - Private, Co. F. Born 31 October 1842 in Negley, Columbiana Co., OH, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Fitzsimmons) Mansfield. Enlisted at age 19 (muster records state age 20 and a Farmer from Beaver Co., PA). Mustered in 9 Nov `61. Captured 20 April `64 at Plymouth, NC. Held captive at Andersonville, GA for 11 months. Paroled 28 Feb `65. Discharged 8 May `65 to date 6 March `65 at Pittsburgh, PA. James went on to take part in the Oklahoma Land Rush, although he didn't keep the land long, and later became a very successful man in Kansas. Died 9 April 1915 in West Wamego, Kansas. Linda Willey

Admitted 27 July `64 to hospital at Salisbury for gunshot wound in leg. Discharged from hospital 2 Nov `64. Paroled Jan `65. Discharged 6 March `65; expiration of term. Died 26 July 1883. McADOO, Robert A. - Private, Detachment. Born 26 April 1837. Enlisted as a Substitute at age 26. Mustered in 1 June `64 at Greensburg, Westmoreland Co., PA. Mustered out 3 May `65. Died 22 Dec 1892. Buried in plot N-98, PineVale Cemetery, Grant Twp, Indiana Co., PA. "101 2nd Co. Detached Infantry."

McALLISTER, Duncan - Private, Co. A. Born 23 May 1842 on the Island of Islay, Scotland; son of John & Isabel (McMillan) McAllister. Enlisted Sept 1861 at age 19, a Student from  Sardis, Westmoreland Co., PA. Seriously wounded 31 May `62 at the Battle of Fair Oaks, VA. Was taken from Fortress Monroe, VA to New York City onboard the steam transport C. Vanderbilt to be admitted to the hospital, arriving 7 June `62. Discharged 10 Dec `62 due to his wounds. He would carry the bullet from Fair Oaks in his body for the rest of his life. Appointed Postmaster at Sardis 1 July `65, holding that position until Jan 1900. Then moved to Parnassus, Westmoreland Co., PA and became a banker.

McALLISTER, Hugh - Private, Co. E. Brother of William. Enlisted at age 18, a Miner from Allegheny Co., PA. Mustered in 24 Feb `62. Captured 30 June `62 at White Oak Swamp, VA while very ill. Supposed to have died. Also listed as McCOLLISTER. Bob McAllister

Arrived 2 July `62 at Fort Monroe, VA from White House, VA on the State of Maine. Died 20 Nov 1862 at Suffolk, VA. Buried at Old Mill Creek Cemetery, Greene Twp, Beaver Co., PA. GAR # 1165.

MORAN, John - Private, Co. C. Born 1842. Enlisted Sept `61 from Big Beaver Twp, Lawrence Co., PA claiming his age to be 18 and was brought with the regiment to Camp Curtin, Harrisburg, PA. His parents objected to his enlisting and informed Col. Wilson that John was a minor. Col. Wilson sent him home before being mustered into Co. C. However, John's name still appeared on the muster rolls & pay rolls, with Capt. Lowry drawing his pay. No pay was forwarded to John Moran or his parents. He was marked 21 Nov 1863 as a deserter and was arrested. A statement of his case and affidavits were forwarded to General Wessels. However, the outcome isn't known at this time. According to the 101st PA regimental history, he was mustered in 6 Nov `61 & discharged 3 July `62. The true account of this soldier needs further research. John died in 1866 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence Co., PA.

RUTAN, James Smith - 1st Lieutenant, Co. F. Born 29 May 1838 in Carroll Co., OH, the son of Alexander A. & Sarah Rutan. Attended Richmond College in OH, and the Beaver Academy, at Beaver, PA. He then taught school for a year, and then began to prepare himself for the profession of the law, prosecuting his studies under Richard P. Roberts, who later, as a Colonel of the 140th PA, was killed at Gettysburg. Being admitted to the bar, he commenced the practice of law at Beaver. Enlisted in Sept `61 at age 23, a Lawyer from Beaver, Beaver Co., PA. Mustered in 9 Nov `61. Discharged due to ill health 18 July `62 at Harrison's Landing. Elected District Attorney of Beaver Co., serving 6 years. Married Lide (Cora) M. Cox on 2 May `65. In 1868 he was selected by the Electoral College of Pennsylvania as their Messenger, or Bearer of their returns to the National Capital. In 1869, he was elected to the Senate of Pennsylvania from the Twenty-sixth District, consisting of the counties of Beaver, Butler, and Washington, and was re-elected, in 1872, by a largely increased majority. He was twice Chairman of the Committee on Congressional Apportionment, and was Speaker of the Senate during the session of 1872. He has also served as a member of the Committees on Federal Relations, Finance, Railroads, and others of an important character. During the session of 1874, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Apportionment. He had a controlling interest and was the principal of the Beaver Radical, and was a Director of the Beaver National Bank. Died 18 June 1892 in Allegheny, PA. Buried at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver Co., PA. GAR # 334.
