Mustered out 25 June `65. He married Mary, daughter of Jacob F. Lower. Although a partial invalid, due to his prison treatment, he continued to work as a Miller until his death on 3 May 1876.

Re-enlisted. Captured 20 April `64 at Plymouth, NC. On transfer from Andersonville to Camp Oglethorpe in Macon, GA, Benner and several others escaped, but some, including Benner, were recaptured. Held captive at Macon from 1 May to 27 July `64. Transferred to Savannah, GA from 27 July to 17 Sept `64. Transferred to Charleston, SC from 17 Sept to 1 Oct `64. Transferred next to Columbia, SC from 1 Oct `64 to 14 Feb `65. Finally transferred to Charlotte, NC where Benner escaped. Recaptured and taken to Salisbury, NC. Paroled at Salisbury and passed through the Union lines at West River, NC on 1 March `65. Commissioned 1 June `65 as Major, but not mustered. Mustered out 25 June `65. After the war, Henry married Sophie Yount of Gettysburg. "Uncle Major" Benner worked as a bank teller and eventually became a grocer. Joined Corporal Skelly Post No. 9, G.A.R., Gettysburg, Department of Pennsylvania, by Muster, April 17, 1876. He was appointed postmaster of Gettysburg in 1885. He served as Pastor until Dec 1857 in the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church near Ellwood City, Lawrence Co., PA. Mr. Billingsley was sent West by the Presbyterian Board of Home Missions. Spent 1861-62 as a missionary in the Colorado Gold Fields. Assigned 21 Dec `63 as Chaplain of the 101st PA and mustered in 9 Jan `64. Captured 20 April `64 at Plymouth, NC. Held captive at Libby Prison, Richmond, VA. Absent on detached service when regiment was mustered out. Officially mustered out Aug 1865. Married Emily Hamilton on 26 Sept 1865. BRENIZER, LaFayette - Corporal, Co. K. Born 4 Aug 1835 in PA. He married Elizabeth Plank 22 March 1855 near Gettysburg, PA. Enlisted 21 Sept `61 at Gettysburg, PA at age 26, a Carpenter from Arendtsville, Adams Co., PA. Mustered in 5 Nov `61. From Sept `62 to Feb `63 he was acting division Quarter Master. He became sick at Suffolk, VA and was discharged 3 March `63 as a Corporal. Enlisted again 1 Feb `64 in Chambersburg, PA as a Private in Co. B, 21st PA Cavalry. On 18 June `64 he was shot in the left side of his neck during a Cavalry charge on some fortifications at Petersburg, VA. He was sent to City Point, VA where he was then shipped to Delaup general hospital on Davids Island, NY. From there he was sent to Citizens Hospital, Philadelphia, PA to recuperate. Went back to his unit 23 Aug `64. Then on 5 April `65, he received a saber cut across his face during a cavalry engagement at Amelia Springs, VA. He was mustered out as a 1st Sgt on 8 July `65 at Lynchburg, VA. Moved to Abingdon, VA in the 1880's and his widow was living in Knoxville, TN when she died 28 Dec 1927. DELANEY, Patrick - Private, Co. B. Born in Ireland. Enlisted 22 Sept `62 by Lt. Thomas Heppard at Pittsburgh, PA; a 56 year old Shoemaker from Pittsburgh, PA. Mustered in 12 Nov `61. Discharged for disability 2 or 15 Feb `63 at New Bern, NC due to neurosis of his left leg with ulceration's. Doctor's report states that the disease existed prior to enlisted and should not have been enlisted. When application for invalid pension was made by Patrick, he stated that he received a gunshot wound at Kinston, NC. Pension was denied. There is also some question to his exact age. Cornelia Warner
