Converting My Seymour Duncan Antiquity Humbuckers To Alnico V Magnets

Bottoms of stock pickups

Unsoldering cover. This is maybe the worst part. I used a solder sucker to remove as much solder as possible. Then I slid the tip of a small screwdriver between the cover and edge of bottom plate, using a slight twisting pressure to keep enough space so the solder would harden without the cover reattaching itself to the bottom plate.

Cover off. I took great care to make sure that the jagged edges of solder on the cover did not drag across the coil area as I slowly worked the cover off.

Top of exposed bobbins

Loosening bobbin screws so bar magnet slides out easily. I'm not sure this is always necessary.

Sliding out original Alnico II bar magnet

Bar magnets: original Alnico II, next to new alnico V that's been marked up

Sliding alnico V bar magnet in

Gently sliding cover back on

Resoldering cover

Cover resoldered.

Neck model with white bobbins. Everything else was the same as the first (bridge) pickup.
