Lloyd Edwin Adair 1904-1948
Below are the thoughts of Beverly Ann Allan about the drowning of Lloyd Adair.
From everything we know about it, you see what you think. He was a little over fourty years old and had been walking home from town. (the bars and friends were all in town) He had been walking the same trail for all those years and never missed a step. This last night the familiar Indians had brought another guy with them and for exactly what reason, nobody knows. This new guy got mad at Lloyd and according to the others with them, Lloyd and the Indian had a confrontation. The Indian left still mad. Shortly after that Lloyd left. And the next time he was seen was the next morning when they found him lying over the fence, in the middle of the pond. He fell over the fence, broke his neck and drowned. Back across the water on the edge of the road they found a rock with dried blood on it. The final conclusion was Lloyd was coming home drunk, fell off the culvert, hit his head, and being disoriented he waded half way across the pond to the fence, tried to climb over it, fell forward breaking his neck and drowning.
But the family always believed the Indian followed him, hit him with the rock, took his money and pushed him into the water. Lloyd had just enough consciosness left to lift himself up out of the water but he didn't know which direction he was going, so he staggered through the water looking for the bank of the pond but he went the wrong way and hit the fence. If he was even aware of his mistake it was to late for him to help himself. But we will never know for sure what happened, in this lifetime anyway.
