John Robin Adair 1898-1916

The third child and oldest son, born on July 17, 1898 in Pinetop, was named John but was known as Robin. (Fourth person from left in picture above) His life ended tragically when a burning tree fell on him June 16, 1916 in Pinetop, while he was fighting a forest fire on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. His mother did not want him to go but reluctantly allowed him. The settlers from miles away were saddened by this tragedy.

Because there wasn't a high school in Pinetop or Lakeside, he was attending school in Snowflake. He was home for summer vacation when the accident happened. He would have graduated the following school term. Robin was the only child in the family to go farther than the eighth grade. He was a handsome young man with blonde hair. He was planning to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He never married.
