There is also a John Rugg listed born 11 Jan 1817 in Devonshire, England who may be a father subject to further research.

OBITUARY: 1. "Early Settler is Dead of Pneumonia. (Special to the News.) Murray, Feb 20.-- D.F. Rugg, an early settler of Murray, died last night of pneumonia, at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife and six children, two sons and four daughters. Mr. Rugg was member at one time of the school board here and also took an active part in irrigation projects. His life was a busy one and useful and he was regarded as a strong and substantial citizen. Funeral arrangements have not been made." Deseret News, 20 Feb 1918.
