Jemima Ann Hales

Jemima Ann Adair was born on March 27, 1863 in Washington, Washington County, Utah Territory. She the second and last child born to George Washington Adair and Ann Catherine Chestnut. Her mother died at her birth. She has an older brother named George Washington Adair Jr. After her mother died her father gave Jemima to a family by the name of Carson to raise her as their own.

Jemima also has eleven half brothers and sisters from her father's second marriage to Emily Perscinda Tyler: Olive Parintha, Emily Jane, Daniel Tyler, Samuel P., William Albert, John Washington, George Newton, Ruth Alice, Joseph Welton, Rufus Nathaniel, and Edna Irene.

On March 29, 1878 Jemima was married and sealed to Charles Henry Hales in the St. George Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was married two days after her 15th birthday. Charles was the son of Charles Henry Hales and Julia Ann Lockwood. He was a carpenter by trade. Charles and Jemima were the parents of eight children: George Ammon, Charles Henry, William Heber, Ida May, Orval Woodruff, Acel Leonard, Jennie Elmira, and Ervin Glen.

Jemima passed away on January 2, 1919 in Junction, Piute County, Utah and is buried in Junction.
