George Washington Adair 1837-1909

George Washington Adair born on June 27, 1837 in Pickens County, Alabama. He was the fourth child of Samuel Jefferson Adair and Jemima Catherine Mangum: William Jefferson, John Milton, Rebecca Francis, George Washington, Pamelia Jane, Samuel Newton, Joseph Jasper, Rufus Columbus Burelson, Jemima Catherine, Ezra Taft Benson.

His first marriage was on January 28, 1857 to Ann Catherine Chestnut in Washington, Washington County, Utah Territory. Ann was the daughter of William Albert Chestnut. George and Ann were the parents of George Washington Jr. and Jemima Ann. Ann died from complications resulting from the birth of Jemima.

His second marriage was on April 10, 1864 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Emily Perscinda Tyler, daughter of Daniel Tyler and Ruth Welton. They were the parents of eleven children: Olive Parintha, Emily Jane, Daniel Tyler, Samuel P., William Albert, John Washington, George Newton, Ruth Alice, Joseph Welton, Rufus Nathaniel, and Edna Irene. George and Emily were sealed in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 18, 1867

George passed away on September 9,1909 in Bloomington, San Jaun County, New Mexico. He is buried in Hammond, which is also in San Juan County.
