The fifth child born to John W. Adair and Cynthia J. Penrod was George Daniel Adair, also known as Dan. He was born in Pinetop on September 15, 1901. Dan's first marriage was to Vona Hazel Stephens in July 1923. Vona is the daughter of William Adams Stephens and Temperance Susan Penrod. Hazel was a younger sister to Wilmer Stephens who was married to Cynthia Elfreda Adair. This was a unique situation where a brother and sister were married to a brother and sister. Dan and Vona divorced and had no children.

Dan's second marriage was to Murvel Alma Kelton, daughter of John Clarence Kelton and Fannie Alma Knox. They were married September 20, 1934. Dan and Murvel had one son named John Robin Adair Wann. After their divorce in 1938 Murvel married Glen Thomas Wann. Glen adopted John Robin and his last name became Wann. Murvel was born in 1918 and died in 2002.

Dan might have married a third time to a woman named Avida. On his death certificate, the name of only Avida was listed as name of spouse.

Dan was musically talented and played the guitar and fiddle. He also served in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii. After World War II, he came home to Pinetop and stayed a short time. He had a German Army helmet from the war that was kept in John and Cynthia's room.

Dan went to California and enlisted in the Naval Reserve from March 9 to December 8, 1944. Although Dell was in the navy boot camp, Dan was the only child in the family to serve in the military.

Dan died October 6, 1950 in San Francisco, California and his body was never brought back to Arizona. About a year before his mother died, the sheriff came to tell the family of Dan's death and asked if they wanted to bring his body home. Unfortunately, they did not have the money and had to leave him there. He is buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, San Mateo County, California. The cause of his death is listed as Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
