Edna Irene Adair Slade

Edna Irene Adair was born on January 20, 1887 in Nutrioso, Apache County, Arizona Territory. She was the eleventh and last child born to George Washington Adair and Emily Perscinda Tyler: Olive Parintha, Emily Jane, Daniel Tyler, Samuel P., William Albert, John Washington, George Newton, Ruth Alice, Joseph Welton, Rufus Nathaniel, and Edna Irene. Edna also had a half brother and sister, George Washington Jr. and Jamima, through her father's previous marriage to Ann Catherine Chestnut.

On November 1, 1908 in Durango, La Plata County, Colorado she was married to George Ether Slade, son of Jefferson Slade and Sarah Joanna Barron. They were the parents of George and Pansy Alice. On October 4, 1917 George and Edna were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Edna Irene Slade passed away on April 10, 1937 in Farmington, San Juan County, New Mexico and was buried in Kirtland, also in San Juan County.

BIOGRAPHY: Per 25 Jan 2002 email of Carolyn Smith : "Nellie & Rufus Adair traveled to St. George to be sealed in the Temple, George & Edna Slade traveled with them to witness the sealing. George & Edna had been sealed a few years prior to this. The trip to St George was a major undertaking & due to the financial situation of both couples and the fact that Rufus & Nellie's mode of travel was by team & wagon, it was necessary to travel some and then stop & work to help finance the remainder of their trip. We understand that several work stops were necessary to complete the trip. When they got to New Harmony they spent several months visiting family. The time spent there also allowed Rufus & George to find work to help finance their return trip to New Mexico."
