YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REQUEST BENEFIT PROJECTIONS EVERY YEAR

THERE IS NO EXCUSE

The Plan can be changed at any time for non-represented employees and during contract negotiations for represented employees.

How will you be able to compare the current Plan with any new Plan.? Suggested EmpForm.

REF: SPD 1993 Edition Page 4-23 paragraph 4. SPD

I have become aware of the apparent Boeing policy to refuse benefit projections because of the impending changes in the plan(s)

"A member called to tell us that the Boeing Retirement Office (BRO) would not give benefit projections beyond December 1999 for represented employees because "We can't guarantee what the new plan will be past that date." His concerns were that: 1) a not so subtle message about reductions was being sent; and 2) represented employees were being discriminated against. Our Joint Benefits Discussion Group contacts assured us that: 1) no message other than "we're swamped" and "for some individuals there probably will be ups and downs associated with a new plan" was meant to be sent; and 2) non-represented employees were only given projections until December 1998. "

If this is true, you are violating a variety of ERISA and Federal regulations as partly described in your SPD. I'm sure your legal department can explain them.

Denying participants the chance to obtain comparative information before any plan changes is, at the minimum, unethical.

Please correct this procedure immediately.
